Easter - Ayres

This is a small Ayres horse of 38 inches high. He has been restored, the paint pattern was copied
from the very battered original paint. The stand is unusual, it is a swing stand but
it has metal coach springs which support the hoof rails. This gave the horse an extra bounce to
the movement. This design of stand was patented in 1895 but not many survive so it can not
have been very popular. They may have been expensive to produce or perhaps they did not wear
as well as ordinary wooden swing stands. They are certainly harder to repair.
